Certainties & uncertainties

Posted: March 25, 2010 in Ferdinand Marcos, GMA, Philippine politics

When Marcos was dictator, we were quite certain his misrule will soon come to an end, even if that end was in the indiscernible future.

Now that GMA, the second-longest occupant of Malakanyang Palace, is supposedly on her way out, why are we so uncertain that her days in power are over?  Why are we in fact so certain that she and her faction will move hell and purgatory to stay in power?

Must we now take matters into our own hands so these uncertainties can be transformed into certitudes?  And what could these be?  Is the choice only between populism and (bourgeois) reform?  What can make change that will benefit and empower most of our people possible and sustainable?
